Hi to all. I'm new to this so sorry if I get something wrong. I have an Angel that is translucent. Is this a normal thing? Also what colour variety would it be if there is a category it would come under. Thanks and any advice is welcome http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160830/fb923ecab02a49dce4efdfa49a01ef4e.jpg

Welcome aboard!

What you have is a juvenile morph of what's called a "blushing" type angelfish (some folks persistently call them "blushers" - an erroneous term), in this case a Koi. As they age, the increase in muscle mass will eventually inhibit light from penetrating through. In addition, those pink cheeks and pinkish flesh below the opercular region close by one or both base of each pectoral fins will likewise eventually disappear. "Eventually" meaning progressively all thru the time they hit sexual maturity (late bloomers do exist).

This is a genetic feature that is passed onto the next generation caused by a mutant recessive gene called "stripeless." To learn more about this and other kinds of ornamental mutations that make varieties of angels look the way they do, please visit our extensive library and please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions; there are many knowledgeable people on this forum who would be glad to assist:

Stripeless is an "incomplete" or "partial" dominant gene, isn't it? Single dose is Ghost, two doses for Blushing.

Whoops, pardon me - thank you, Dan! I must have been having a "senior moment" when I wrote that. Anyway, so as not to have to re-invent a triangle and make it look like a wheel, best to refer to existing information complete with nice pics too! Here's the expose on the "stripeless" gene as well as the goldmarble gene (Kois are goldmarbles with 2 stripeless genes):
