Smokey Blushing
Multiple Locus Phenotype

Non-wild alleles that interact to form this phenotype:
Smokey (Sm), Stripeless (S)

Smokey Blushing

The smokey blushing angelfish is a smokey (Sm/+) with 2 alleles for stripeless (S/S).  It has the genotype:

Sm/+ - S/S

As a fry and young juvenile, the gill area will be pink.  An adult smokey blushing can be distinguished from a non-blushing smokey by the absence of any striations in the dorsal fin and absence of any lacey patterning in the tail.

Approved by The Angelfish Society Standards Committee on March 11, 2007.
