Smokey Pearlscale
Multiple Locus Phenotype

Non-wild alleles that interact to form this phenotype:
 Smokey (Sm),  Pearlscale (p)

Smokey Pearlscale

A smokey pearlscale is a smokey (Sm/+) that is also homozygous (double dose) for the recessive pearlscale trait and has the phenotype:

Sm/+ - p/p

The pearlscale trait does not alter the expression of color of the smokey phenotype, but alters the shape and alignment of the scales resulting in the scales being more reflective of light.  This gives the angelfish a glossier appearance.

Approved by The Angelfish Society Standards Committee on March 11, 2007.
