Streaked Black

Non-wild alleles that interact to form this phenotype:
Dark (D), Streaked (St)

Streaked is a dominant trait, so will express with either one or two alleles for streaked.  A streaked black is a double dark black or a hybrid black angelfish with either one or two alleles for the streaked trait.  The streaked trait shows up best on a dark colored angelfish, and results in a white stripe through the dorsal and anal fins.  A streaked black has also been called a “black lightning.”

A double dark streaked black will have one of the following genotypes:

 D/D – St/+
D/D – St/St

A streaked hybrid black angelfish will most commonly have one of the following genotypes, but could also have the gold allele (g) replaced with either a gold marble (Gm) or a marble (M) allele.

D/g – St/+
D/g – St/St

Approved by The Angelfish Society Standards Committee on May 14, 2007.
